A perspective on nano-membranes
Monday 30 September 2013

Nanomembranes are very thin free standing films with a range of potential applications including novel molecular filters. In an invited Perspective article in ACS Nano (ACS Nano, 7, No. 8, 6416 - 6421, 2013, DOI), three of the NPRL's staff join forces to review the progress taking place in this area, provoked by the work of the Bielefeld group who have generated nanomembranes via e-beam cross-linking of self-assembled monolayers. Palmer, Guo and Robinson combine their complementary experience of molecular manipulation, cluster beams, SAMs and next generation lithography both to review the area and to define key challenges for its future development.
