Two years ago it was the “World’s Smallest Valentine”, an 8nm palladium nanoparticle in the shape of a heart (see below), and last year it resurfaced in Science magazine to promote the Gordon Conferences (again see below). This year, courtesy of Alina Bruma and Ziyou Li, it’s a palladium-gold alloy, thermally processed, and 5nm across instead of 8. Anything you can do…?
